July 4, 1998: WFCC delivered 1st GPS to Thungyai at Jakae wildlife protection station as to support needed equipments to rangers. Mr. Jitti Sawatsai, chief of Jakae station received a Garmin 12XL GPS from Mr.Visit Samarnwanich, chairman of WFCC as posted in picture. This equipment will be used for locating rotation rice field of Karean villagers at Jakae village which are now under dispute with officers and government on uncertain location of rice field that is accused as forest devastation. Moreover, this equipment will be utilized in forest patrol of rangers as well as data collection in field research to build up central data base of Thungyai in the future. This GPS support is part of ranger support project initiated by WFCC which aims to gear up rangers' working efficiency that will help keeping this forest.
