It was the great chance of Thungyai Naresuan Wildlife Sanctuary to firstly organize “Thungyai Naresuan Wildlife Sanctuary In the Natural World Heritage 2005” festival on the occasion of 14th anniversary Natural World Heritage site of Thungyai Naresuan. The festival was held at Kanchanaburi city pillar shrine, intended to publicize the essential of the unique abundant biodiversity of Thungyai Naresuan, and so that was worldwide admitted as a natural world heritage, honorably declared by UNESCO in the year 1991. The festival was organization fund supported by World Heritage Project, the Protected Area Regional Office 3, and Western Forest Conservation Club (WFCC). The arrangement cooperation supported by the Protected Area Regional Office 3, Municipality of Kanchanaburi Province, Provincial Conservation Forum (PCF) committee of Rachaburi, Seub Nakhasatien Foundation, Kanchanaburi Conservation Group, and WFCC.
At Kanchanika Conference Room, Kanchananukroah School of Kanchanaburi Province, the press conference started at 1.00 pm with the communiqué of Joint Management of Protected Area (JoMPA) which was carried out by Mr. Visith Wongsanansilp; Deputy President of the Protected Area Regional Office 3, together with Mr. Sompoach Maneerat; Assistant Manager of JoMPA, Mr. Pakorn Uthaithong; Site Director of the Protected Area Innovation Unit (PAIU), and Mr. Erb Choeng Sa-ard; the Chief in Command of Thungyai Naresuan. The conference was well interested by plenty of attendants, together with local and public correspondents.
After the press conference, the lecture in the topic of “Thungyai Naresuan Wildlife Sanctuary In the Natural World Heritage 2005” was chronologically held by 5 conservative specialists, started from Mr. Erb Choeng Sa-ard; the Chief in Command of Thungyai Naresuan, followed by Mr. Non Khiewwan from Wildlife Conservation Society (WCS) Thailand, Mr. Veerawat Theeraprasarn; the previous Chief in Command of Thungyai Naresuan whose currently reserved as the committee of the Ministry of the Foreign Affairs - Kingdom of Thailand, Ms. Rataya Jantaratien; the Chairman of Seub Nakasatien Foundation, and Mr. Suraphol Duangkhae; the Chairman of Wildlife Fund Thailand (WFT).
At 4.30 pm, Mr. Chana Nopsuwan; the Assistant Governor of Kanchanaburi Province, released speech for officially opening, then visited boots from several associations publicizing specific information under their concern. The participated association are such as; the Protected Area Regional Office 3, Thungyai Naresuan Wildlife Sanctuary, Sri Nakarin Dam National Park, Erawan National Park, Chalerm Rattanakosin National Park, Khang Khao Cave Non-hunting Area, Seub Nakhasatien Foundation, Rajabhat Kanchanaburi University, Kanchanaburi Conservation Group, Kanchanaburi Lady Group, etc.
After the opening ceremony, a unique enchanting primitive show (Tong Dace) performed by Kong Mong Tha school students which recited and primitive instrumental drove by their grand old women.
The exhibition attracted people from several association, especially children who came with their parents, students from local areas, including other publicize. It can be said it was worth to the organizers’ trouble of preparing all presentation materials for days. Toilet cars were prepared for all organizers and visitors, as well as other site works were well cooperated, supported by Municipality of Kanchanaburi Province.
Even the first time Thungyai held for world heritage anniversary, the impressive well cooperate received from several organizations all altogether from national parks, non - hunting areas, including other wildlife sanctuaries in both manpower and shows. On this regards, a concert of musician group supported by Khao Laem National Park, Sri Nakarin Dam National Park, Salak Phra Wildlife Sanctuary, and Western Thungyai Naresuan Wildlife Sanctuary which Mr. Anan Sriphudphong, the Assistant Chief in Command of Thungyai and the producer had prepared, and was applauded for its meaningful; especially the song “Tha-non” (Road) which had been composed just a few days before the its show.
During the concert in that evening, there were alternating speeches from the protestors of Nam Choan Dam Construction Project, including Dr. Pramesak Piayura; the Committee of Thai Parliament who had joined the protest once he was a doctoring student.
The festival “Thungyai Naresuan Wildlife Sanctuary in the Natural World Heritage 2005” was finally completed at 10.00 pm. When Mr. Erb Choeng Sa-ard went up onto the stage and thanks to all participants. The last song was sung, together with officers from several associations in a warm impressive atmosphere.
