After Mr. Paiboon Sawetmalanon quitted his position as the chief of Thungyai Naresuan WS. on 31st March 2004, he then initiated a 210 km. Marathon from Thungyai to the city pillar shrine of Kanchanaburi province in worship to King Naresuan The Great and to solicit money to help a sick ranger who lies in bed for 6 months. For that marathon, Iron Heart; at that time the only truck of WFCC played its last duty on transport foodstuff to serve 20 runners through the end of the marathon.
Along several years in every condition of Thungyai Naresuan WS, Iron Heart has a long history in all memories. Not only of WFCC members and volunteers, but also of rangers, villagers, and several visitors. Besides the hard burdens of transportation it continuously performed through several conservation projects of WFCC and Thungyai till those could reached their objectives, Iron Heart occasionally helped transport rangers, visitors, and villagers. Through its various duties, Iron Heart used to rescue a boy whose suffering from illness by carried him from Jakae village(near Mayanmar border) out to hospital in time, though his elder brother just died 3 days before Iron Heart met his younger brother. As well as it was Iron Heart who helped transport learning materials following the project of Koh Sa-derng school(the lost school in the jungle) Support on 1999. He was astonished with its capability of WFCC old red truck, therefore, instead of "Red Doggie" we normally call, he renamed it "Iron Heart" in respect to its long history hard-working as he referred in his article "Thailand Trucks and Thungyai". By the time of its deterioration and expiration, the fishing pond of Mr. Ter was chosen as the last location for his old age and pass on his unfinished duty to the new truck, " Fire of The Tiger ".
Until December 2005, when Mr. Saksit Simchareon, the head of KNR Wildlife Research Station decided to initiate West Thungyai Tiger research Project. Accordingly, WFCC launched a support project to the research by firstly arrange a preparation meeting of West Thungyai tiger research support project on 1st April 2006. Apart from foodstuff and all necessary field research materials including personal equipments WFCC planned to provide, a transportation truck support was also considered a must to do in the planning list. On this regards, Mr. Ter; WFCC mechanical technician, volunteered to renovate the old-aged Iron Heart to support the tiger research project. Under financial support by WFCC members together with gradually dedication on the process of Mr. Ter and his team, the progression is now reach 80% to completion. Expectedly, the rebirth of Iron Heart shall be completed in time in September, readily to return to its home Thungyai as a new role to support tiger research project which scheduled to begin on November 2006.
