The beginning of year 2006, Thungyai Naresuan WS had an idea to construct an additional wildlife checkpoint at Kongmongta village since the village road has been used as wildlife corpse transportation trails of poachers out from Thungyai. To have intensive inspection on villagers and passengers there, Mr. Pongpan Ungham-anan the assistant chief of Thungyai issued the idea of checkpoint construction to consult with WFCC and then asked for support. Since the period of Mr. Paiboon Sawetmalanon in 2004 when the idea of wildlife checkpoint construction originated, the project at that time yet did not taken to action because of several technical problems and obstacles. However, because of its high essential to sustainable site protection which match WFCC principle, the project was raised to reconsider in the period of chief Mr. Erb Cheongsa-ard and was then put as one of WFCC Wildlife Protection Support Project. The construction has been done progressively. construction material was continuously transported from WFCC office to the worksite. WFCC radio communication technician was assigned to construct and keep monitoring the radio communication system, as well as some necessary instructions and consultancy provided throughout the project. Under responsibility of the project manager; head of Keongsada wildlife station Mr. Prasit Sae-hiap, together with manpower supported by Keongsada wildlife station, the construction finally completed in May 2006. In conclusion, WFCC support of the project is approximately Baht 24,000. To achieve its objection, Keongsada wildlife station has provided rangers to be rotated on duty, and work effectively as all expected.
