to Celebrate 30th Anniversary of Thungyai Naresuan Wildlife Sanctuary Establishment


Stage #2 October 21 - 25 , 2004

 

                     Thursday  October 21, 2004 :
                    11.30  pm : 3 tons of construction materials and equipments fully loaded by 2 trucks with 8 construction technicians and 2 engineers started off from WFCC office in Nakhonpathom headed Northwest to Thungyai to begin the 2 stage of the central radio network station .

                  Friday, October 22 , 2004 :
                 6.00 pm : safely arrived at Sesawo wildlife protection station , along the way we collected 5 more rangers from Tinuay , Tikong and Maharaja wildlife protection stations to added and strengthen the construction team .

                  Saturday October 23, 2004 :
                 6.00 am. : The temperature was 12 degree Celsius , after breakfast Mr. Tawet , the chairman of WFCC leaded members and rangers to the Hermit shrine to pay respect for good luck of and smooth work of the construction project .

                 Mr. Ko drove WFCC truck to the mountain top and loaded the materials and equipments then drove down back to Maharaja wildlife protection station to get more construction materials. Mr. Nu and Kong , the engineers , and Mr. So , the technician , examined and checked all the tower base holes which will be filled with concrete. Mr. Un the head of WFCC construction team rechecked the iron frame which was partly made from town , other helped adjusting , digging , tower base holes as the engineers commanded , Miss Lilly helped preparing lunch .

                 5.00 pm : The preparing works was finish and ready to fill the 4 tower base hole with concrete , 18 workers helped mixing and carrying concrete in a buckets , lined up in a row and passed buckets of concrete , after an hour the first tower base hole was fully filled with concrete . Then the second tower base hole in the East was continued .

                 After one hour of sunset , the first day of concrete work finished , all of us got aches all the body and dirty on our clothes . After cleaning buckets and equipments we walked down the mountain with the help of the light of the full moon. When we arrived at Sesawo wildlife protection station which was 4 kilometer away , we all went down the stream in the dark and washed the body , then got dinner and discussed about tomorrow plan and when the temperature was gradually decreasing till we felt cold , the meeting was ended and all went to sleep in their sleeping bags.

                  Sunday  October 24, 2004
                 6.00 am. : The weather was cold like yesterday , after breakfast we went up the mountain to continue the concrete work . We helped working all the day till 5 pm. , the last bucket of concrete was poured into the last tower base hole . All the construction materials were empty as well as 1,200 liters of rain water we saved in the big PVC tank from last rain . About 4 tons of construction materials was poured in the 4 tower base holes , some of us got concrete bite , other were fried with sunlight .

                 After all buckets and equipments were washed and kept in its place , we gathered around for a photo of memory with the last light of the sun on the mountain top . This photo shall remind all of us of the success of the mission which we dedicated and proud of and shall remain years in our lives.

                  Monday October 26, 2004
                 5.30 am. : The weather still cold as days before , many of us were awaken early by the noises of gibbons and the birds from the bush near the station. After breakfast , we helped installed a solar cell system to Sesawo wildlife protection station .Mr. Jit , chief of rangers at Sesawo climbed up the wooden house installed a cable wire while Mr. Un installed charger controller of the solar cell unit and connected all the wires . After an hour the solar cell system installation was finished , we tested and monitored the system so that to be assured . The solar cell system installed shall facilitate the rangers of Sesawo and end up the way they carry battery up the Hermit mount to be recharged .

                 10.00 am. We started to go back town , we left Mr. Soe at Sesawo . Along the way back just downhill to Dongwee stream we found a herd of monkey on a big tree , there were about 20 of them , making noises when we passed by . While we passing Song Song stream we found another herd of gibbons on a big banyan tree .

                 11.00 am. We arrived at Maharaja wildlife protection station and sent Mr. Panom off . We had lunch here then continued the way back and arrived at Tikong  wildlife protection station and sent Mr. Burm off and pick up Mr. Gas back home with us .

                 3.00 pm. We arrived at the head quarter of the wildlife sanctuary and sent all rangers back to their station . We met one of the assistant to the chief of the wildlife sanctuary and brief him with the succession of mission report .On the way back home we stopped at Sai Yok Noi water fall and offered a thank you dinner to Mr. Kong and Nu , the engineers and Miss Lilly who dedicated themselves participating the mission of the central radio network station construction stage 2 . We finally arrived at WFCC office in Nakhonpathom at 24.00 .
