Thungyai Naresuan Wildlife Sanctuary Establishment

Stage #5 Phase #3
Before the dawn of December 30, 2005, WFCC
staffs and its volunteers departed from Nakornprathom, headed to Thungyai
Naresuan for the 3rd phase of stage 5: the Central Radio Network
Station Construction Project. After breakfast at Thongphaphume, Kanchanaburi
province, we met Mr. Phong who was introduced by Mr. Tawet Uttawichai, WFCC
chairman. We separated to prepare foodstuff for the 5 days mission. Then WFCC,
together with Mr. Phong, continued our way to Thungyai Naresuan.
The truck of Mr. Supachai, WFCC radio
communication technician, was firstly arrived the main checkpoint. By sand paper
we prepared, Mr. Pranuch polished the old looking brass history sign of Thungyai
first truck “E-Kae”, then, sprayed covering it by lacquer. At the same time, Mr.
Chai adjusted radio cable at the checkpoint for more effective. After that, we
went to see Mr. Montree and Mr. Pairatch, assistant chief in command of
Thungyai, in order to donate a new mobile phone with sim card, together with
antenna and wiring equipment of mobile system GSM 900 MHz to be installed at
Keongsada radio station, after the first and the second time of connection
failed. The radio communication center at Keongsada will support
intercommunication between outside and the radio network system of Thungyai
Naresuan.

After lunch prepared by Mr. Montree and Mr. Pairatch,
WFCC continued its way to Maharaja Wildlife Checkpoint. When we reached, we
found a new souvenir boot at the bottom hill where the King Naresuan shrine and
the office building stated. Inside the boot, there were few T-shirt displayed.
On its front side shows the symbol of World Heritage. The Baht 150 each T-shirts
were arranged by Mr. Anan, purposely to earn fund for musical instruments after
several songs had been composed. Most of the song tells the history and several
stories occurred in Thungyai, stories of wildlife, etc., The latest song he
composed is “Ta-non” (Road)
which was firstly displayed at the festival “Thungyai Naresuan Wildlife
Sanctuary In the Natural World Heritage 2005”
on December 16, 2005 at Kanchanaburi city pillar shrine.

WFCC and followers stayed that night at
Maharaja and started work since the early morning of December 31, 2005. Mr. Aun
and Mr. Keng assembled a steel battery case, then, cover its socket. Mr. Chai
and Mr. Keng inspected its connection circuit following the plan we received
from Mr. Pornlert. At Maharaja Wildlife Checkpoint, its cable line was adjusted
from RG – 8 to be RG – 6 to support using function. Then, we continued our way
to the central radio network station at Hermit hill.

The
truck reached Hermit hill at around 12 pm. Officers from Tikong, Maharaja, and
Maekasa station came to help unloaded material and equipment, and moved down to
it work site. Apart from concrete materials and other necessary equipment, the
transportation also comprised of 24 floor tiles (60x60 cm.) donated by Mr. Chun
to be applied on ground floor, satellite accessories, television transceiver,
and battery.

Around 2 p.m. after lunch, Mr. Aun metered floor level. Then, Mr.
Jitti and Mr.Eii leveled ground floor underneath the station building. Mr. Pae,
from Tikong Wildlife Checkpoint, chopped and weaved bamboo stick to underlie the
floor; in order to stretch the concrete instead of steel structure. Mr. Mana and
Mr. Serh compound concrete. Then, pour onto the laid bamboo structure and
applied floor tile. Concrete work had been continued until all material was used
up at 60% of the process.

While concrete work was running underneath, upon the radio
station building were Mr. Keng who was connecting battery circuit and electric
system, and Mr. Chai was surveying the most appropriate location for satellite
installation. The electric works grew fast, as well as to assemble satellite’s
composition. Then, Mr. Aun and Mr. Keng installed the station signage, both
inside and outside the building, assisted by Lukenut the volunteer.

Until 5 pm, while all the process still carried on, Mr. Berm started to wear a
safety belt and selected necessary equipment to his pocket. He climbed the radio
post up to repair damaged cable, adjusted to its proper direction, and tightened
firmly to the post. After Mr. Keng finished his electrical work, he climbed up
to help until the high work finished. Before Mr. Keng climbed down, he took a
few different scene photos from top view.

After sunset, we loaded all equipment back to the truck. Then,
continued the way to Sesawo Wildlife Station to stay our last night of the year.
There, we enhanced each other spiritual power to hold our faith and dedication
toward works along the coming years and decades on protecting this world
heritage site, Thungyai Naresuan, to benefit all as long as it could.
