Regarding the request of Huai Kha Khaeng Wildlife Sanctuary, during August 12-13, 2005, a group of technicians were assigned to inspect the operation and effectiveness of the radio communication system in the wildlife protection units of Ciber, Maedee, Sup Pa Ploo, and Klong Salao which are under take care of Huai Kha Khaeng Wildlife Sanctuary. HS7-CEJ and HS7-TKC, WFCC technicians had delicately inspected all the accessories and their functions, in order to analyze and report as a proposal of its efficiency improvement to support preservative mission of Huai Kha Khaeng.
Because of a long distance between the northern and southern radio network stations, WFCC officers can not travel around for inspection and serve maintenance for both stations in time. To solve the problem, Huai Kha Khaeng Wildlife Sanctuary under cooperation with National Park, Wildlife and Plant Conservation Department supported WFCC a transportation helicopter, both for transportation and for surveying throughout the mission. On August 17, 2005, WFCC join the flight to survey the location of radio communication station at Nam Teun, Tapeonkee, and Bankluy Wildlife Protection Unit. For the other units, WFCC had a schedule to visit during the next mission.
As the result of primary inspection from both missions, WFCC found some damages and shortages of some accessories and equipments which required considerate budget, time, including manpower to help rectifying the radio communication system to be more effective. Since the communication system is one of the most significant tool to support structural management through the forest area, WFCC considerably agreed to support the Radio Network System Improvement Project for Huai Kha Khaeng, as well as we has done for Thungyai Naresuan, following our original aim and dedication to protect the Western Forest Complex of Thungyai – Huai Khakhaeng Natural World Heritage.
During the flying survey mission, WFCC also took participate on the mission of tiger tariffs sourcing, following the Tiger Research Project, handled by Mr. Saksit, the head of Khao Nang Rum Wildlife Research Station. An antenna was installed outside the helicopter to support radio signal, connected to the audio receiver which was mainly used for sourcing. The mission seemed to be successful and highly appreciated to Mr. Saksit since the professional pilot could lead us to the target tariff refer to his research. Moreover, he heard good news from Mr. Ong-Sa that “The Buck”, his favorite tiger still exists in the area.
It is the fact that the forest of area all over the country nowadays has been astonishingly minimized from time to time. As we have continuously heard that through over the past three decades, the forest officers all over Thailand always collided with poachers, but none of the interfere we can arrest or catch a clue of the main dictator. At most, we gain only their underlings with some evidences, or sometimes we did not even see the offender; only the trail of fallen trees remained. Moreover, like Thungyai Naresuan and every other protected areas, also Huai Kha kHang’ s buffer zone has been changed to be crop fields to supply the infinite demand of agriculture area of the population around to support the inevitably civilization. Refer to the great vision of Mr.Chatchaval Pitkhamdum, the previous Chief in Command of Huai Kha Khaeng Wildlife Sanctuary, regarding the construction project of protective fences stretching northern to southern as the final border between Huai Kha Khaeng forest area and villages. However, the project had regrettably not been continuously processed to be completed.
It’s not the unpredictable natural effects of draught, flash flood, earthquake, mud collapses, hurricane, etc., that caused the great disasters to human as we were reported more and more nowadays. It can be implied to be the Nature Strike Back effect since the ecosystems were destroyed. Although we can predict some of the natural phenomenon, we can only primary coping with the situation since it is the out-of-control effect. Nobody desire even to imagine if the day comes and its powerful devastate all creatures and even humanity. Only way out is to aware of its important, how much we had destroyed, and how we can give a hand to retain the great factory of oxygen and water resources to keep biodiversity and equilibrium of ecosystems to benefit all livings and humanity.
The mission will not be positively done without the true cooperation of the police Captain Banjong Thoopthienrath; the flight chieftain and pilot, captain Khajornsak Juprasert; the mechanical technician, first Master Sergeant Pikart Chukaew; flight coordinator, and Mr. Surasak Surarak from the National Park, Wildlife and Plant Conservation Department who had devoutly supported WFCC throughout the mission until successfully achieve the working target that day.
