January 27, 2006, WFCC took a long distance for 2 days to Yuyee Wildlife Station. The mission took altogether 5 days along its round trip distance of 3,000 kilometers. WFCC reached the Twelfths Protected Area Regional Office at Nakorn Sa-wan district and met three officers from Huai Kha Khaeng who reached there formerly. The old style wooden building of Twelfths Protected Area Regional Office was very primitive, attractively tidy and clean.
At 2 pm, WFCC with officers continue the way to Mae Sord district where we planed to stay overnight. After food supplies were prepared at Doi Mu Ser market, WFCC headed to a hill at 20 km. far away from Phob Phra district. We stayed a night there among starlight and city lights from Mae Sord.
After morning coffee, WFCC continued the way across Phob Phra district. The truck climbed up along the way through valley. Different from the previous 10 years, beside the way turned to be deforested mountain for crop fields. And there are more fields founded spread around the valleys as we reached community areas.
Baan Um Pieam Emigration Village is similar to Baan Nu Pho Emigration Village and others where a group of houses was crowed settled in lines likes the whole mountain was covered by houses of emigrants.
Mae Klong Kee Wildlife Station bears a great burden from villagers’ deforestation. And outside support is now the most requirements to enhance their effectiveness of forest protection.
