It was the end of year 2001, WFCC launched the project of solar cell system construction in Thungyai Naresuan WS. December 24, 2001, the day after Hermit Inaugural Stay Ceremony in the period of the chief Paibool Sawetmalanon, WFCC firstly constructed solar cell system for Mae-Kasa Wildlife Unit. From that beginning, WFCC had gradually sourced budget to installed for other units, one by one. Ideally, Thungyai Naresuan will has such solar cell alternative energy throughout the wildlife sanctuary.
The alternative
energy
solar cell system
is
a way out to eliminate the high expense & difficulties
of fuel usage. The system can produce itself pure
energy and store power supply not only for rangers
basic necessary activities for life, but most of all
for such significant electronic equipments as
radio communication. A handheld or station radio is not
only to support communication during patrol or other
activities regards to site and resources protection. A
radio may be the only tool to rescue the holder
ranger himself in such emergency case or when tragedy
comes unpredictably. His handheld radio will be the
most important tool to call for help,
military support, food supplies, emergency medical
care, etc. Moreover, the solar cell alternative energy
will produce power supplies for such research
electronic equipment. Not only to activate wildlife and
wild land scientific research in Thailand. Indirectly,
it may approach and witness to some more people the
existence of abundant resources. Expectedly, it may call
people's
nature awareness somehow. Currently, solar cell can be divided into 3 categories.
1. Single Crystalline Silicon Solar Cell and Poly
Crystalline Silicon Solar Cell Advantage of using solar cell as an alternative energy
1. It can be used everywhere the

1. Produce energy only when sunshine
To construct solar cell system throughout Thungyai Naresuan Wildlife Sanctuary requires our strong attempt and devotion. Firstly, it is a large complex area which stated wildlife units scattering in all over specific area; remote, unavoidable terrible way in the jungle especially during rainy season, natural forest fire in dry season, and its own geographic condition which is uneasy to reach. From WFCC office, it takes altogether over 1,000 km for each mission. However, the investments is the most of all trouble we faced. Each solar cell equipments, especially the solar cell panels is very expensive. WFCC had worked very hard on sourcing large budget to completed each unit for years, as well as sourcing budget support other necessary projects in the same time. But, how little chance it could be, how many problems we faced, or how much difficulty and pressure we bore, WFCC set them as a great lesson which we have to make it possible by our strong mind and firm philosophy.
From its beginning at Maekasa wildlife unit in 2001, the alternative energy solar cell system construction still in continue base on WFCC budget which are mainly from the members itself and some other honorable supporters. Hopefully, the fundamental structural system of solar cell alternative energy will drive Thungyai Naresuan Wildlife Sanctuary to its extreme effectiveness on preserving and retaining itself as a pristine world heritage site as we all dream of.
