morning of May 6, 2005 : rangers of Ti Ku wildlife protection station satarted digging hole for solar cell pole installation at the open sapce by the antenna tower which was the best location for solar panel.
Uncle Dee, the old ranger was healthy enough to help digging hole by using coconut shell as his digging tool.
Mr. Dong , a young ranger who was born sick with leukemia, was another helping hand.
When the hole was done, rangers carried the solar support pole with heavy concrete at its bottom then located the solar pole in the hole.
electric wire no.4 was put in the wire tube to connect the solar panel with the solar charger which installed in the main office.
Mr. Pranuch, WFCC member, calmly lead the solar cell installation for he had gained more experience from the past solar cell installation at Salawa and the central radio network station.
installation of solar panel to the iron support frame was a little troublesome for one bolt was missing, luckily, Mr. Dong took another bolt from his motorcycle and gave it to Mr. Pranuch , then affixed it with the solar frame.
The new model of the solar panel was a square type with power at 50 watt. The most important thing to be aware of is that, the solar panel is fragile and heed a lot of care during transportation and handle.
The solar panel mounting was easy because Mr. Un already made holes at the iron frame so that 4 bolts were easily put in its places.
While other rangers were busy installing the solar panel , Uncle Dee and Mr. Berm helped installed the solar charger unit as well as wiring the electric cable.
Outside the office, Mr. Dong and Mr. Pranuch were wiring the electric cable and the electric ground.
When all tasks and procedures were done, Mr. Pranuch connected the solar panel with the main electric cable which at the other end was the solar charger unit.
Mr. Berm then, connect the main electric cable to the solar charger unit in the main office.
Then the solar system get started to operate normally.
Mr. Dong who just completed the 10 days rangers training yesterday, eagerly volunteered to do the painting which was the last job of the solar cell system installation.
As energy crisis arose everywhere in the world, the idea of installing the solar cell system to the wildlife sanctuary may be one of the best alternative nowadays. From now on, the rangers have no need to purchase gasoline for the machine to produce electricity anymore. Moreover, the solar cell system is nature friendly equipment, produce no pollutions. It's nice to be at the wildlfe protection station in the night time and there is no loud noise of the working generator and machine.
After the solar cell system installation was completed, WFCC climded up a mountain in front of the Ti Ku station named , Long Cha Mua. After 2 hours of climbing , finally reached the peak of the mount and enjoyed the panorama view of the area around the station. It was sad to see this picture when realised that 10 years ago all this area was once a densed forest.
Mr. Pranuch stood at the mountain peak carrying his tripod looking at Thungyai mountain range ahead thinking of the encountering problem of forest devastation by villagers, wondering who should responsible to this problem and will there be anyway else to help remedy this situation. WFCC alone could not help much, but through the nature awareness and understanding of the public especially the villagers on the essence of nature and forest to wildlife and human lives, then this natural world heritage forest could be saved.
