During 1-5 June 2005, Mr. Pranuch and Mr. Surachai again started stepping out for the fourth mission of wildlife track survey project. Not very far from their beginning point, clues of a tapir found.
The target condition was generally deciduous forest alternated by grassland and ferns. Situated at over 1,000 meters from sea level, it was such astonishing that a large swamp found upon a mountain ridge.
Because of moist from the beginning of rainy season, several species of mushroom found along the track. Some of them are eatable, as well as some are poisonous. To stay with or depend on nature, some tiny acknowledge can not be ignored. (See mushroom gallery)
Vanishing and threatening natural resources were gradually discovered along their steps through the forest. Not at all for adventure, luck, or famous of the explorers themselves, but most of all for Thungyai itself. The wildlife track survey, on the other way, is an opportunity that the protectors can know more about the forest they are taking care of. As a classroom of infinity acknowledge and as home they were born to protect, to know what are such precious properties it contains and where situated the sophisticated matters that need to be protected are such significant advantages they suppose to learn.
Everyday of survey in every mission, different wildlife or at least their signs found, mostly wild cattle such as guars, samba, barking deer, turtles, gibbons, birds, etc., (See wildlife gallery) or even a long-tailed rat we found underneath kitchen ceiling. These are precious properties of the forest that all people has right to protect but has no right to destroy or keep as one own.
Mr. Surachai, an ordinary Thai nationality from Karen tribe at the border range of Thai-Burma who has applied to be a temporary employee of Thungyai, lives simply and think simply. During lunch, a question was shut to him: "How come you need protect the forest?" He could not answer, actually he could not describe in words. Only things he said: "It's terrible to let them destroy all... "It doesn't work."
