Operation Training of West Thungyai Tiger Research Team 23-24 April 2006, camera installation team is divided into 3 groups; each comprises of expert officers from Khao Nang Rum Wildlife Research Station and trained officers from west Thungyai Naresuan WS. Each team has to take turn carrying trapping cameras to install at specific positions in the jungle. Some shift may has to stay overnight in wild as to install the cameras at far away positions on the following day. Above picture shows the installation process of trapping camera cabinet and the process of infrared radiance monitoring. The camera works automatically by heat attack. Sometimes we tested its performance by lighter's heat, however, we mostly test by heat from our hands which is more accuracy.
A lizard companion we found on the road stayed not very far from his hole-home, easily to be rapidly gone inside when passenger or truck passes by. Although our major purpose was training, we also learned and exchanged some more other things. Beside a bank stream there stood an uncommon resident bird, River Lapwing, which inhabits in condition of sandy shore of large stream or sandy riverine forest. Apart from wildlife, we’ve learnt about vanishing ecological condition in Thungyai WS that is dry dipterocarp forest. It was beauty of the season when light-green of new born leaves decorated the dry forest. However, the more beauty we found along this journey mission was our own warm helpful and cheerful friendship. April 26, 2006, we had a chance to rest for a day to wash and dry our clothes which were all every day wet by rain. Some of us separated to buy foodstuff, and returned with not so good news that no at all meat were affordable. However, it doesn’t matter since we still had plenty of vegetation to survive with.
