David's Letter
Dear Dr. Tunhikorn,
I wanted to let you know how much I enjoyed talking with you that day at the
Hermit Radio Station in Thungyai Wildlife Sanctuary. It was a great and very
unexpected honor to be able to sit with you during the ceremony and to be part
of the ribbon cutting ceremony for the handover of the Thungyai Central Radio
System. This event was the highlight of my trip to Thailand. I very much
appreciated the kind words you delivered to me in English. My understanding of
the Thai language is very much lacking, but it was obvious to me that your words
in Thai, to all those attending, were especially appreciated and felt on the
heart level.
Your presence as well as
the presence of the other officials that day, made a profound effect on those in
attendance. After seeing the progress made firsthand, since my last visit four
years ago, it was gratifying to
know that these wonderful people were so skillfully acknowledged at the event.
Your kind words to the Western Forest Conservation Club and the Rangers of
Thungyai, has further reinforced their dedication to Thungyai, the Western
Complex, the people of Thailand and ultimately the entire world. My financial
contributions seem dwarfed in comparison to the great strides and massive
undertakings completed (and in progress) by Western Forest Conservation Club
Members along with the great cooperation and help of the officials and rangers
of Thungyai Wildlife Sanctuary. Be assured that I will continue to support
Thungyai with future donations.
It is my intention in the
coming months to return to Thailand (as the trucks from Thai Army Auctions
become available). Should you have an interest, feel free to read the article I
wrote about my trip to Thailand and Thungyai (4) years ago. The complete article
with photos appears in my 2005/2006 catalog and also on WFCC’s website.

The people of Thailand
are indeed fortunate to have as their National Park, Wildlife and Plant
Conservation Director, an experienced officer who truly cares about this most
important forest as well as those who strive to improve the quality of life for
humans, plants and animals in Thungyai. I am grateful for the opportunity to be
involved with so many people of such high caliber. Once again, I thank you for
your kindness and care for the people and wildlife of Thailand.
Sincerely,
David C. Butler
