Speech of
Mr. John V. Felice
President, Ford Thailand on
Press Conference and Awarding Winning Ceremony

5th Ford Conservation & Environment Grants 2004
on Thursday May 26, 2005 at Siam Society , Bangkok , Thailand

On behalf of Ford Thailand, we would like to congratulate the 24 winning projects for the 5th Annual Ford Conservation & Environment Grants 2004 and we would also like to thank you the judging committees from

- The Office of the National Culture Commission
- Khun Warapol from the Office of Natural Resources and Environmental Policy and Planning
- Khun Danai Egkamol, Department of Alternative Energy Development and Efficiency
- Khun Porntip Sintipongse, Bureau of Welfare Promotion and Protection of Children, Youth, the Disadvantaged, Person with Disabilities and Older Persons

They have been true partners in this project and would have spent precious time reading/studying 183 projects for Ford Thailand and NYK.

In addition , thank to NYK for your co-support to make this project have positive, far reaching effects.

Environmental stewardship is now new to Ford, rather it has been a long-standing tradition. Henry Ford, the founder of Ford Motor Company, was one of this century's environment pioneers, He was interested in new ideas to preserve natural resources, reduce waste and recycling, long before these ideas became fashionable.

First launched in 2000 in Thailand , the Ford Motor Company Conservation & Environmental Grants is a unique concept and works on a truly grassroots level.

The program is designed to empower individuals or small non-profit groups to maintain and develop on -going projects that help conserve non-renewable resources and preserve valuable aspects of cultural heritage within their local communities.

In the past five years , Ford has contributed more than thirteen million baht to more than 50 projects within the four categories of Natural Environment, Heritage, Conservative Engineering, and Child and Youth.

We are very impressed by your creativity and ingenuity and ultimately, for dedicating your life and work to preserving the environment, natural resources and Thai heritage. We are glad to play a small part in preservation for the sake of the future generations of Thai people.

This project is totally different from other projects because Ford provides case by case support tailored to the needs of each project without any limitation. We think that each project has its own working plan and, thus, requires its own budget.

These projects will be part of Ford programs to develop communities and will be considered for Ford's future community development programs in Thailand.

We thank you and congratulate you again for developing initiatives that can inspire future generations.
