According the town plan recently laid by Kanchanaburi Office of Public Works and Town & Country Planning (DTCP) which demonstrated a new road cut through the natural world heritage Thungyai Naresuan, the opposition current was launched from several conservative associations followed by a protest letter to the DTCP Kanchanaburi. The protest letter specified their request to adjust some of landing utilities, conditions, and transportation route in Kanchanaburi which may effect to the natural condition and ecosystem of Thungyai Naresuan Wildlife Sanctuary as marked in the plan. December 20, 2005 at 1.30 pm, the letter holder Mr. Urb Choeng Sa-ard; the Chief in Command of Western Thungyai, followed by the representative from supporting conservative associations were invited to share opinion and discuss for conclusion at the conference room of Kanchanaburi Provincial seat of Administration. After discussion with DTCP committee, Mr. Cheodwit Ritprasart; Kanchanaburi governor, clarified the commitment meeting conclusion. The resolution is that the new road cut project through the western Thungyai Naresuan will be cancelled based on nature and environment conservation policy of Kanchanaburi province, and, on all agree of reserving the world heritage cite where is highly risk to be destroyed by the road which it may then cause the world heritage status is being withdrawn. After ensured the positive conclusion to public, Mr. Cheodwit also suggested Mr. Urb Choeng Sa-ard to report all activities in Thungyai which is inconsistent to the conservative purpose for further effective cooperation with the local organizations nearby. In addition, Mr. Prasartporn Namboonrueng; an officer from the office of Kanchanaburi route, clarified general road building regulation of all related organizations that there must be specific location and route marking before the process. However, the issue was only town plan with no specific location and route marking as refer. Therefore, the 4 lanes road through Thungyai will surely not be figured up as all concerns are worried about.
